When I moved to Florida over 30 years ago one of the first things I purchased was a surf fishing rod & reel. I have enjoyed many days of getting my feet wet in the sand while casting my line out into the ocean in attempt of catching a fish or two. I've had whiting, red fish, and even a couple of sharks take the bait on my line. It's such a joy to be out there. If I actually catch a fish that's just an extra bonus. Sometimes I leave my fishing poles behind and take my paints and brushes to paint the waves in the ocean. One such day a fisherman stood next to me and fished for hours. I decided to add him into my painting along with a couple of his bird friends. Let me know if you like this painting.

Casa Feliz - SOLD
The Winter Paint Out is over for another year. It was a great event and the weather held out for us all week. There were lots of wonderful paintings turned in from a great group of accomplished artists. I did this painting of the Casa Feliz during the paint out. It was designed by James Gamble Rogers II (1901-1990) a well known architect of Winter Park. I wanted to paint a section of the historical building, but when I got there I did what I usually do and painted the whole building. This painting will make a nice wedding present for the many weddings that are held at the Casa Feliz. SOLD
Forces of Nature
I just completed painting in the Crescent Beach Plein Air Paintout. Over a week of painting on location along the beach and near the city of St. Augustine. Forces of Nature was an old cedar tree I found growing along the banks of a canal that led to the Intracoastal Waterway . I spent the afternoon with that tree for three days in a row. Trying to capture the light and strength that nature cast upon that old tree. The first two days I left unsatisfied, hoping I would be able to return again and finish the composition. On the third day I left joyfully, knowing I had created a nice painting. I didn't acutally know how good it was until I put it in the competition and it was voted Best of Show.
